The Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live.

Many have raised families, educated children, and worked in their communities as volunteers. In additional to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship!
Essays should be well written, with proper punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Include a completed entry form with your essay.

Criteria Essays should include a persuasive explanation of why the student chose to focus on a particular woman and what this woman means to the student. Students should sign an entry form and ask their teacher to do the same to certify that the essay is an original work.
